Nine-thousand years ago, the first indigenous tribes crossed from the Tierra del Fuego, settling the Antarctic Peninsula. Twelve-hundred years ago, the first Polynesian groups settled Tai-uka-a-pia on the opposite end of the continent, kickstarting a series of continental wars. In the 1830s the first Europeans arrived, dominating the continent until the revolutions of the 1920s.
