{We are using "I"s to mean the number 1one bc of tags} Type I Diabetes is an incurable disease that affects millions. It most commonly occurs in children and teenagers. TID is NOT caused by being overweight or eating to much sugar. It is caused by antibodies in your blood killing the part of your pancreas that makes insulin. Insulin keeps the sugar you eat from making your blood sugar go to high. Because the pancreas doesn't make insulin we have to take artificial insulin via injection (we have to takes shots about IO times a day) and constantly monitor our BG (Blood Glucose) by pricking our fingers. There is technology to help manage diabetes, but you have to wait until you have been on injections for a while. There are C G Ms and pumps. These are small-ish devices adhered on to your skin. You change them every few days. Its a lot fewer needles. This is a support / advise group for anybody with type I diabetes. Even if you don't have this disease, we welcome you to join.
