--Space Operations Command-- #749380562
Description
The Space Operations Command basically runs the day-to-day operations of U.S. military space missions. Their main activities include: Satellite Operations – Controlling and managing satellites for communications, navigation (GPS), and missile warning. Space Domain Awareness – Monitoring space to track satellites, debris, and potential threats. Missile Warning & Defense Support – Using satellites to detect missile launches and provide early warnings. Supporting Military Forces – Ensuring that U.S. and allied troops have the space-based tools they need for operations. Protecting Space Assets – Keeping U.S. satellites and space systems safe from attacks or interference. Developing Tactics & Readiness – Training space operators and developing new ways to use space in military missions. In short, they make sure the U.S. can use space safely and effectively for defense and military operations, and respond quickly if something threatens those capabilities.
