2nd Regiment of Foot It is the earliest regiment in the army in continuous active service, originating in Coldstream, Scotland in 1650 when General George Monck founded the regiment. Coldstream is an elite unit of guards who guard critical personnel and structures and, when threatened, can turn into a durable and skilled line infantry unit in battle.
