Imperatorskaya Armiya Russkaya #7603827
Description
The Russian Imperial army, while not being the most technologically advanced at the time of the Napoleonic wars was still a major threat to the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte of France. Their raw man power allowed them to recover from horrendous losses that would have dealt the final blow to other European powers of the age. The Russians played a major role in the weakening of Napoleon's Grand Armee during his winter offensive of Russia, during which he savagely sacked and looted the Russian cities he entered. Brave Russian citizens began enacting a "scorched earth" policy which led to Napoleon and his Grand Armee to be starved of resources and promptly reduced in size by nearly three quarters. The Russian offensive was one of Napoleon's greatest tactical failures and eventually led to the overwhelming of his French forces and finally his exile.
