Main Political Directorate of the Red Army and the Soviet Navy is the central military-political organ of administration in the Red Army. It was directly controlled by the All-Communist Part of the Soviet Union. Political Commissars or either known as Political officers is a supervisory officer responsible for the political education and organization of the unit to which they are assigned, with the intention of ensuring political control of the military.
