Description
Station Search and Rescue Whidbey Island "So others may live." Under the authority of Helicopter Sea Combat Strike Wing Pacific, Station SAR Whidbey executes the duties of aviation search and rescue for Whidbey Island and surrounding areas. Whidbey SAR maintains a rigorous 15-minute or 30-minute response time guarantee at all times. SAR employs aviators, aircrewmen, medical technicians, and critical care transport staff (PAs and MDs) as well as various other support positions such as flight surgeons and aerospace experimental psychology. The motto for SAR is "SOML" - So others may live. NASWI SAR maintains two MH-60/R "Knighthawk" helicopters capable of inland, overwater, and mountain/alpine rescue. Invite only
