Description
The Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) was the ruling communist political party of Czechoslovakia for much of the socialist period. Founded in 1921, it followed Marxism-Leninism and, after taking power in 1948, became the dominant political force in the country. The KSČ controlled major parts of the government, economy, media, education and public organizations. It maintained close political and military relations with the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries. During the period of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (ČSSR), the party played a central role in state administration and public life. The KSČ was led by a General Secretary, with the Central Committee and Politburo among its important organs. Communist rule ended during the Velvet Revolution in 1989. This community represents the KSČ for historical and roleplay purposes and does not express support for its ideology or historical political system.
