The Order of the Hospitaller was founded in the holy city of Jerusalem, where it began as a humble hospital dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. Its brothers cared for pilgrims who journeyed from distant lands, offering food, shelter, and healing in a place fraught with danger. By the 13th century, the Hospitallers had become one of the most powerful military orders in the Holy Land. From mighty fortresses such as Krak des Chevaliers, they held the line against overwhelming forces, guarding key routes and standing as a bulwark against their enemies. Now, in the year of our Lord 1310, the situation grows ever more dire. The Kingdom of Jerusalem weakens, and the forces of the East press harder with each passing year.
