Once a citizens' militia of disgruntled lumberjacks and frontier hunters from St. Paul, Sanctuary has radicalized into a pseudo-isolationist militant force to oppose the imperialism that has encroached upon Colonists and Natives alike across the Isle of Rupert. Intent on curbing the power of any faction aside from itself and thwarting the march of the Saint Lawrence Company and the Compagnie de la Nouvelle-France, Sanctuary ultimately aims to secure its sovereignty and become the island’s foremost bulwark.
