Description
Welcome to Chesapeake County. Founded in 1608, Chesapeake County resides in the Chesapeake Bay within the State of Maryland. Although the Bay Area was first explored by European Explorers in 1562, Olmsted Island, the primary island of Chesapeake County wasn't discovered or documented until 1608. Being in the middle of the bay gives the county a large fishing economy and a prevalent tourist culture throughout the summer months. The county's primary city is Olmsted which also serves as the seat of the county and home to its highest ranking officials.
