𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐌𝐈 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐍 ------------------------------------ The Murakami clan of Seto Inland Sea was a powerful Japanese naval family active mainly during the 15th–16th centuries. They were not traditional land samurai but maritime warriors, controlling sea routes, trade, and naval warfare in the Seto Inland Sea. The Murakami were famous for their naval tactics, piracy-like activities approved by authorities, and their role as protectors or enemies of major daimyo such as the Mori clan. Over time, their power declined as Japan was unified and independent naval clans were no longer tolerated.
