TR: 1914 yılında Osmanlı Devleti’nde jandarma teşkilatı Umum Jandarma Kumandanlığı adıyla faaliyet göstermekteydi. Teşkilat, Harbiye Nezareti’ne bağlı askerî nitelikli bir kolluk kuvvetiydi. Jandarma, kırsal ve yerleşim alanlarında asayişin sağlanması, kamu düzeninin korunması ve orduya destek görevlerini yerine getirmiştir. Rütbe ve teşkilat yapısı Osmanlı ordusu ile aynıydı. EN: In 1914, the gendarmerie of the Ottoman Empire operated under the name General Gendarmerie Command (Umum Jandarma Kumandanlığı). It was a military-based law enforcement force attached to the Ministry of War. The gendarmerie was responsible for maintaining public order, ensuring internal security, and supporting the army, using the same rank structure as the Ottoman Army.
