The Hussards de la Mort, or Death Hussars, were a French light cavalry company formed during the French Revolution, known for their distinctive black uniforms and the skull and crossbones emblem on their helmets and sabretaches. They were a volunteer unit, sometimes described as "death's hussars" due to their dark, somewhat sinister appearance. Initially formed as a free company, they were later integrated into the 10th Regiment of Hussars and eventually became part of the 14th Regiment of Chasseurs à Cheval
