CURRENT ERA: 1840 - 1890 The Cheyenne are an Indigenous peoples of the Great Plains, they are made up of two different tribes, the Suhtai, and the Tsitsistas, they merged during the 19th century to form one tribal nation, that being the Cheyenne. Nowadays they are split into two federally recognized tribes, the Southern Cheyenne, and the Northern Cheyenne. Long ago, they used to be a woodland culture, until the other local nations such as the Ojibwe have pushed them further west, where they became accustomed to the Great Plains, which is where they are now. During the 19th century and a bit before, they have became a horse culture and have allied with their best “buddies” the Arapaho. Over the course of local tribal infighting and fighting against European Settlers and the U.S armed forces, they have been pushed to the reservations. Their population after the massacres and wars (and pestilence) have rebounded their population. And which brings us to present day, a reservation life.
