Description
28 Haziran 1963'te Türk Ordusu 600. kuruluş yıldönümünü kutladı. O tarihlerde, Türk Kara Kuvvetleri'nin kuruluş tarihi, yeniçeri ordusunun kurulduğu 1363 yılı olarak kabul ediliyordu. Aynı yıl, turancılık fikrini savunan Nihal Atsız, bunu eleştirerek Hiung-nu hükümdarı Mete'nin onluk sisteme dayalı bir ordu kurduğu düşünülen tarih olan MÖ 209 yılının "Türk Ordusu"nun da gerçek kuruluş tarihi olduğunu iddia etti. 1968'te Yılmaz Öztuna ise, genelkurmay başkanı Cemal Tural'a bu öneriyi sundu. 1973'te ordunun kuruluşunun 610. yıldönümü kutlanırken Atsız bu iddiayı yeniden öne sürdü. 12 Eylül Darbesi'nden sonra bu iddia benimsendi. Hâlen, MÖ 209, Kara Kuvvetleri Komutanlığının kuruluş yılı olarak kabul edilmektedir.
