𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 The 17th Line Regiment can trace its roots back to before the Civil War. Being the ninth Regiment formed within the Northern Cantons around Basel. The Regiment would be Organized under the Austrians as part of the Württemberg Infantry Regiment, being besieged in 1683. The Regiment would then be mustered in the Army of Imperia in 1689 to put down a revolt, here it would receive its number and cement itself as one of the finest Regiments in Europe until the War of Spanish succession where it fought in Italy against the French. After being decimated in an Ambush in 1705, the Regiment would be retired from frontline service until the Civil War began in 1765.
