𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐎𝐅 𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐀 The year is 1804, Ragusa was a patrician state formed from the medieval communes of Dubrovnik. It was a state of very strong maritime affairs and preserved its independence by trading with great powers, such as the Ottoman Empire. Dubrovnik, territorially small as a state, had to trade with the powers and give them part of the territory and thus managed to survive until the early 19th century.
