Associated with strong anti-communist elements, the CDIN represented opposition to the growing influence of the left within Lao politics and advocated for the preservation of the existing political and social order. The organization was closely associated with General Phoumi Nosavan and other traditionalist figures who played prominent roles in the political and military affairs of the Kingdom during the late 1950s and early 1960s.
