𝐙𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐄; The battle-hardened 1. Westfälisches Infanterie Regiment was established prior to the War of the Fifth Coalition. Like its French counterparts, this regiment was modeled as a standard french infantry regiment. Trained and supported in the same way. The 1st Infantry had its baptism of fire when during the Battle of Olper in 1809, they held off repeated attacks by the Brunswick Infantry until their assaults failed. Following the battle, the regiment, and its division had continued pursuit of the retreating Brunswickers up towards the sea.
