Description
Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force was formed in January 1944 to serve as the unified command for Allied forces in Western Europe during World War II. It was created to plan, coordinate, and execute the invasion of occupied Europe, most notably Operation Overlord. Under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, it ensured American, British, Canadian, and other Allied forces operated under a single, coordinated leadership.
