Description
The Aeolians were a feared warrior brotherhood said to have emerged from the rugged coastal regions of northern Greece, near the ancient lands of Thessaly and the islands overlooking the Aegean Sea. The Aeolians worshipped many gods of the Greek pantheon, but above all they devoted themselves to Ares, whom they called The Red Father. Before battle, warriors covered their shields in crimson dye and offered wine mixed with animal blood upon stone altars. Though fierce in battle, the Aeolians were also known for strict codes of brotherhood. Betrayal among the group was punished harsher than defeat itself. The young initiates trained from childhood in spear combat, shield formations, and naval raiding. "Steel without loyalty is weakness.”
