Operating under emergency wartime powers, the federal government has consolidated control over remaining loyal states, major military installations, and key eastern administrative centers. Though still claiming full constitutional legitimacy, the USA faces ongoing challenges from breakaway governments, regional coalitions, and corporate security forces that contest its authority across the continent.
