Description
𝑰𝒏𝒇𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓í𝒂 𝒅𝒆 𝑽𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐 𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 When Ceuta was ceded to Spain in 1668 from Portugal, the predecessors of the current "Regimiento Fijo de Ceuta" were raised. In 1702 when two captured officers were promised riches if they converted to be Islamic, they held true and were subsequently put to death. Fijo gained the name "El Defensor de la Fe" (The Defenders of the Faith) in recognition for their actions.
