7. Panzerdivision VII. Panzerdivision Gespensterdivision "Ghost Division" The 7th Panzer Division was formed in 1939 before the invasion of France. On May 10th 1940 the 7th Panzer Division stormed through Belgium and in 6 weeks the fall and capitulation of France happened. This became known as the Gespensterdivision (Ghost Division) because of it steam rolled through France within 6 weeks. The division was then sent to the Eastern Front where it spent most of its time until the fall of Berlin.
