𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐮𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐬 - 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 The Tennessee Mounted Volunteers were organized in 1835 in the state of Tennessee as a volunteer company and organized in Texas on January 14th, 1836, and was composed of American frontiersmen who entered Texian service during the Texas Revolution under the leadership of Davy Crockett. Drawn from the western districts of Tennessee and neighboring regions, the unit reflected the frontier rifle tradition, with many of its members experienced in hunting and irregular warfare. Although often associated with mounted service due to their mode of travel, they operated primarily as rifle-armed volunteers within the Texian army after arriving in Texas. 1835-1836
