Description
The Defense Criminal Investigative Service is the criminal investigative arm of the Office of the Inspector General, U.S. Department of Defense. DCIS protects military personnel by investigating cases of fraud, bribery, and corruption, preventing the illegal transfer of sensitive defense technologies to proscribed nations and criminal elements, and by providing the DoD with base security. The DCIS also provides internal policing for the military and most of its special agents are veterans. One of the main goals of the DCIS is to cut back on military manpower wastage and to provide a sensible solution to the military law enforcement problem by allowing vets to carry out the Code of Conduct on active duty personnel.
