Description
Est. 11/13/20 A Jodo-Shu temple-fortress built in 1475 by Matsudaira Chikatada. The temple is situated in Mikawa neighboring the Matsudaira/Tokugawa Clan. It is said that young Tokugawa Ieyasu, after being defeated at the Battle of Okehazama in 1560, fled to Daiju-ji to harakiri. However, he was persuaded otherwise by the Head Priest. Four years later, Sohei trained in this temple aided Tokugawa Ieyasu at the Battle of Azukizaka to wipe out a significant portion of the Ikko-Ikki in Mikawa.
