Description
The Philippine Navy (Hukbong Pandagat Pilipinas) was established by Aguinaldo's Presidential Decree for the creation of a "Revolutionary Navy" during the flames of the revolution and onwards to the Philippine-American Conflict, the navy officially started in May 20, 1898 under the duly appointed Senor Pascual, a merchant marine master and with the blessing of the president, gave him the title of Director of the Navy. One of the officers of the Filipino Navy was Senor Vicente Catalan, a Cuban-Spaniard sympathetic to the Philippine revolution. He was also known as "Admiral of the Philippine Navy". In July 5,1898, Admiral Catalan with his Filipino sailors helped seize Subic Bay.
