Description

The 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (5 RAR), is an infantry battalion of the Australian Army with a distinguished history of service. Raised in 1965, the battalion served with distinction during the Vietnam War, participating in numerous operations and earning a reputation for professionalism and effectiveness. Following several restructures throughout its history, 5 RAR has continued to contribute to Australia's military capability through training, operational readiness, and participation in domestic and international missions. As part of the Royal Australian Regiment, the battalion upholds the values of courage, teamwork, and service, while maintaining the skills required to conduct infantry operations in a variety of environments and conditions.
