Description
Despite his lack of wealth, Obentraut joined Palatine service in 1619, when he recruited 300 cavalrymen in the Palatinate. By 1621 he had joined Mansfeldian service where his recruitment in the lower Palatinate expanded his regiment to between 900 and 1000 men in 10 troops. Obentraut would continue to Danish service in 1625, with the remaining 700 men of his regiment, but would fall in battle the same year.
