𝐄𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐄; The third light infantry battalion was formed from volunteers and conscripts from the newly joined lands. By 1812, the battalion had about 23 officers and 733 lower ranks. The battalion was formed from 3 companies: the 2nd voltigeur, the 3rd Carabinier, and the 1st Jagers with 139 men in each company. The third light infantry battalion participated in the military campaign of 1812 in Russia, participated in the battles of Valutina Mountain on August 19, the battle of Borodino, and the Berezina. Many times soldiers and officers showed themselves as exemplary and brave soldiers.
