Description
The 82nd Army Aviation Brigade is an aviation formation within the 82nd Group Army of the People’s Liberation Army Ground Force, which itself is subordinated to the Central Theater Command of China. It was formed as part of the PLA’s major structural reforms in 2017 that reorganized older aviation regiments into brigade-level units. The brigade operates a variety of army helicopters, including transport and attack types such as Z-8, Z-9, Z-10, Z-19, and more recent utility helicopters like the Z-20, providing air mobility, assault, reconnaissance, and close support capabilities for ground operations. Its primary role is to support the 82nd Group Army’s combined-arms missions, enhancing battlefield maneuverability and rapid response in the central region of China.
