Í𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐤𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢 𝘐𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 In 1801, the British Navy had attacked Copenhagen and destroyed almost the entire Danish fleet. Meaning that Iceland was largely isolated and unprotected. When Jörgen and a band of early Norwegian separatists landed on Iceland in the early summer of 1807 with his crew of Englishmen they arrested the Governor who'd effectively banned trade with foreign nations with the death penalty. 18-19 centuries.
