Keppel's Fist #871029347
Description
[Fictional Group] Keppel’s Fist was formed by John Keppel during the First Barbary War. In response to the growing threat of piracy against merchant shipping, the company was established as a contracted marine force, providing armed detachments aboard merchant vessels for protection against pirates, privateers, and hostile boarding actions. Merchant captains could hire men of Keppel’s Fist to serve as shipboard marines during dangerous voyages and contested waters. Though originally intended for convoy security and shipboard defense, Keppel’s Fist was also trained extensively in land warfare. During the Barbary campaigns, its marines took part in several coastal engagements across North Africa, earning a reputation for disciplined fighting both at sea and ashore. During the War of 1812, Keppel’s Fist saw expanded use in land combat, participating in raids, port assaults, and defensive actions alongside American naval and privateering forces.
