Description
11/08/25 Based in Age of Honor. Tsukuyomi is a deity in Japanese mythology, traditionally associated with the moon. He is one of the important kami in the Shinto pantheon and is often considered the moon god. According to myth, Tsukuyomi was born from the right eye of the creator god Izanagi during his ritual purification after escaping the underworld. He is typically depicted as a noble and serene figure, in contrast to the sun goddess Amaterasu, his sister. In one well-known myth, Tsukuyomi caused a rift with Amaterasu after he killed Uke Mochi, the goddess of food, out of disgust at how she created sustenance. Offended by this act, Amaterasu distanced herself from Tsukuyomi, which is said to explain why the sun and the moon are separated in the sky.
