Description

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 The British Army in South Africa was the main British force deployed during the Second Boer War, tasked with defeating the Boer Republics of the South African Republic and the Orange Free State. Comprised of regular army units, colonial contingents, and volunteer formations such as the Imperial Yeomanry, the army conducted a combination of siege operations, mobile column warfare, and scorched earth campaigns. The force operated under a series of commanders, including Lord Roberts and Lord Kitchener, and was organized into multiple columns and regional commands to track the highly mobile Boer commandos. Despite its size and firepower, the army faced harsh terrain, guerrilla tactics, and prolonged supply lines, exposing the grim realities of colonial warfare.
