We are a group of Type 1 Diabetics, not Type 2. We have it through no fault of our own. This group was made to bring awareness to this disease that affects so many people. ----------------------------------------- Type 1 Diabetes is a life long disease. It is caused by the absence of the production of insulin by the pancreas. To make up for this loss insulin must be injected into the body up to 6 times a day. The purpose of insulin is to control blood glucose levels. To ensure the correct amount of insulin is given, blood glucose must be tested multiple times every day. ----------------------------------------- Type 1 Diabetes is an important disease that more people need to be aware about. Over 3 million people are dealing with this disease in the United States alone. This group will help to spread awareness about Type 1 Diabetes.
