“Let steel be tested by stone, and men by war.” ₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪₪ Description: The Teleutērioi stand at the threshold of adulthood, having survived the Trials and earned the right to be shaped into warriors. Here they enter full hoplite training—forming ranks, carrying weighted shields, learning the rhythm of advance and retreat, and mastering the spear as an extension of their will. Under the command of the Paidonomos, they train in all weather, by daylight and torchlight, until they become one mind and one step. The Teleutētēs who proves himself ready is welcomed into the Syracusan army with honor, and his first shield is placed in his hand as a sacred trust.
