The 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as "The Old Guard," is the oldest active-duty infantry unit in the United States Army, originally founded on June 3, 1784. Their main jobs are acting as the official ceremonial unit of the Army, serving as the escort to the President, guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and providing defense/security for the President.
