Description
Coming from Frankfurt service, Burkhard von Waldmannshausen rejoined Palatine service in 1619 and was given command of a regiment. Raised in the Lower Palatinate and numbering 3000 men in 10 companies, the "Waldmannshausen Regiment zu Fuß" began its' service in 1621, where 3 companies took part in the relief of Heidelberg. 7 companies of the regiment would later be sent to reinforce the garrison of Mannheim. The other 3 were sent to reinforce Frankenthal, where Waldmannshausen’s men were noted for their bravery during the Spanish siege.
