Description
The City of Surrey is located within the province of British Columbia, situated south of the Fraser River and forming part of the Metro Vancouver region. Surrey was incorporated as a municipality in 1879, with settlements developing throughout the area as communities expanded south of the Fraser River. Over time, the region developed from a largely rural municipality into one of British Columbia's largest and most diverse urban centres. The city encompasses a variety of natural and developed areas, including rivers, forests, parks, agricultural lands, and several distinct town centres that together form the wider community of Surrey. Surrey is home to a wide range of occupations, businesses, public services, and communities spread throughout the city. Continued growth and development have shaped the region into an important urban centre within British Columbia. Circa. January 2021, In early development stages.
