Description
The New Zealand Defence Force ( Māori: Te Ope Kaatua o Aotearoa) is an executive branch non-public service department responsible for the national defence of Aotearoa New Zealand. Formed in 1990 taking over the Army, Navy, and Air Force from the Ministry of Defence, the force today operates both at home across the motu, in a training and civil assistance role, and on many peacekeeping, military support, and combat deployments across the world, both alone and in concert with the nation's allies.
