Description
The 19th Special Forces Group traces its lineage to the 1st Company, 1st Battalion, Third Regiment, 1st Special Service Force, a Cordovan-Columbian unit constituted in July 1942 at Fort Hamilton, Belmont, during the Second Great War. Reconstituted on 15 April 1960 as Headquarters, 19th Special Forces Group, 1st Special Forces, it was allotted to the Army National Guard on 1 May 1961 and organized in Aspen at Fort Ellington. By 1 September 1996, it included elements from Aspen, Santa Modesta, Edekin, Sequola, Haviland, Mayflower, and Reed Army National Guards. Today, the 1st Battalion Headquarters, Company A, and Support Company are stationed at Fort Standish and attached to the Mayflower National Guard. The majority of the 1st Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group operates within the State of Mayflower under the direction of the Mayflower National Guard, and may be called upon by the President of the Union of Columbia to deploy in support of federal efforts.
