Description
The Tory Party was first introduced in 1678 by Jacobite officials and was a product of the English Civil War. It came to itself when the first prime minister, Robert Walpole, was inaugurated in the 1720s. By the American War for Independence, the Tories made up the majority of Parliament with Lord North at their head. 19th century Tory politics were turbulent. Many power struggles occurred with the Whigs which later became the ######## and then the Labour Party. Political geniuses such as Benjamin Disraeli led the Tory Party through the Victorian age. The age of Thatcherism began in 1979 and after numerous power struggles involving the Orgreave miners and the Labour party, Thatcherism ended in 1990. The current and most recent Tory leader is Boris Johnson. He was inaugurated in 2019 and has been ruling ever since. Come and visit us in the Tory Party!
