Description
Lander was initially founded as a logging settlement in the early 1600s by Paul Lander. The town was incorporated in 1648. Remaining small for some time, the town grew in size after the discovery of gold within the modern Diamond Creek State Park in the 1800s. During this period of time, Lander quickly turned into a large metropolis and was later designated the state capitol. In the following years, the construction of various state office buildings for the state's various departments, and various private private corporations, such as McDoogle, rose up, solidifying Lander as a government and economic powerhouse of not only the State of Mayflower, but the Union as a whole. By the early 60s, the city was coined the "Metropolis of the East Coast". That name stuck ever since.
