Description

The Duchy of Milan was an Italian state located in northern Italy, which's been under Spanish rule from 1559 to 1707. Under the Spanish-Hasburgs rule, the local population's been highly taxed, making the Spanish rule very unpopular among its citizens, and a Bubonic plague harshly hit the small duchy, killing around 186.000 people. During the Spanish succession war, the Duch of Milan has been occupied by the Austrian army and after some time officially subjugated to the Austrian-Hasburgs rule with the Convention of Milan in 1707.
