Description
The State of Kennebec was established along the northwestern frontier of the present day Union of Columbia, formed from lands formerly administered by the Dominion of Cordova. Settlement in the region dates back to 1808, with trading posts and forts established by Cordovan fur companies alongside long-standing native populations. Kennebec was organized as a territory of the Union of Columbia in 1864 following the decline of the fur trade and increased settlement by Columbian pioneers. The State of Kennebec was admitted to the Union on November 8th, 1889. The state is known for its vast mountains, valleys, natural reserves, and harsh winters, and is home to descendants of Cordovan traders, Columbian settlers, ranchers, loggers, and native tribes. The state is composed of the Counties of Grand Falls, Kennequa, Jackson, Long Spear, Broken Rock, Ohansee, Lewis, Robinson, Hawthorne, Kedgwick, and Caraquet. The state is seated in the City of Beaumont in the County of Grand Falls.
