𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗚𝗨𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗦 𝑬𝒍 𝑬𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒂 𝒆𝒏 𝒆𝒍 𝑭𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐎: Miquelets were local militia light troops who operated in the regions of Catalonia and Valencia who can trace their origin back to 1640s. During the Peninsular War they acted as guerilla troops in the mountains and also as regular troops in the Spanish Army. They played a key role in the war by harassing French supply lines and fought in the battles of Girona, Lleida, Tortosa and Tarragona.
