Description

The 3de Regiment Jagers was a light infantry regiment of the Army of the Kingdom of Holland, formed during the reorganisation of the former Batavian Republic’s forces after Louis Bonaparte became king; it was created as part of the Dutch army’s adoption of French-style military structures and served as jagers (light infantry), trained for skirmishing, reconnaissance, and screening rather than close-order line fighting, and throughout its existence the regiment was primarily stationed within the Netherlands for territorial defence, internal security, and training while remaining available for integration into Napoleon’s wider military system; a major army reorganisation led to the regiment being renumbered as the 1ste Regiment Jagers, after which the designation “3de Regiment Jagers” ceased to exist, and following the annexation of the Kingdom of Holland by France.
